Canon EOS 40D still have its Magic

Canon EOS 40D was announced on 20th of August in 2007 and up until today its already been 3 years. During this 3 years time, Canon had came out 2 DSLRs which have newer technology and better performance if compared to the 40D on the same line. These cameras are the 50D and the 7D. Obviously, the 50D and the 7D have more mega pixel count and a better high-iso-performance than the 40D without any doubts. But, for those who are having a bit of financial problem to upgrade from your 40D maybe because you're still a student and the decision is not on you or whatever reason, don't be sad.
This post is me here trying to encourage those who are still "stuck" with your "old" 40D and have lost interest in taking out the camera to explore and make new photos due to you are not using the newest technology or you believe that your camera is out-dated. I'm here going to show you that the 3-years-old 40D can still do some magic.

The very main reason for most photographers out there wanted to upgrade their current DSLR to the newer model or the successor of their current DSLR is the high-iso-performance and the amount of noise generated in high-iso photos. So, here I'll show you how well the 40D can perform under very high iso like 3200, 6400 and 12800. Since the iso in the 40D can only go to 3200 max, in order to get iso-6400 n iso-12800, i underexposed the photo 1-stop and 2-stops then push it up back using photoshop. For the noise reduction part, i'm using Noise Ninja to remove the noise. I've never use other noise reduction software so i cant compare but i can say that Noise Ninja did quite a pretty good job in removing the noise and preserving the details of the photos.

For the photos, i shoot all in jpeg with standard noise reduction in the camera settings. The lens i'm using is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens. The testing area is my desk. The lightning condition of my desk is a ceiling light and the light from my laptop screen. The photos below are 50% crop (the bigger photos) and a 100% crop (the smaller photos on the top right ).

That's all I wanted to say up until now. I believe that the photos will speak for themselves. Enjoy!
