Oh ya, nearly forgot... For those who doesn't have a single idea of what Photokina is, I don't mind explaining to you.
The Photokina is the world's biggest trade fair for the photographic and imaging industries. It is held in September every 2 years at the Cologne Trade Fair, Germany. Many photographic and imaging companies introduce important imaging products at photokina, or at the Photo Marketing Association Annual Convention and Trade Show (PMA), which is held in February or March of every year.
So, my main point for writing this post is to briefly tell you what has been announced in this Photokina fair.
First of all, I would like to say about the Canon. As all of you know, Canon recently just announced their new DSLR beast which is the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Canon EOS 50D. Besides, Canon also announced their 4 new lenses which is the Canon EF 24mm F1.4L, Canon EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS and not forgeting their monster lenses which is the Canon EF 800mm F5.6L and the Canon EF 200mm F2L. Apart from the DSLR and lenses, Canon also announced a few prosumer camera which is the Powershot SX10 IS, the Powershot SX1 IS, the Powershot G10 and many other more which is not very outstanding(for me at least).
As for the Nikon, there is not much to say as they only announced 1 DSLR which is the Nikon D90. But it does attracted a big crowd because people are so interested in the movie mode that this Nikon D90 can do. No doubt that Nikon still has his supporters. ^^ Besides the Nikon D90, Nikon also announced thier new lens which is the Nikkor 18-1.5mm with VR to pair with the Nikon D90 as a kit lens. Other than the big type DSLR, Nikon also announced a new prosumer camera. Starting at the top with the new flagship, the Coolpix P6000 builds on the formula established with the P5000 / P5100 adding even more pixels (now 13.5 million). It also adds built-in GPS and a nice 28-112 mm zoom range but it's the raw output, now supported by Adobe Camera Raw, that caught my eyes.
As for the Sony, they announced their new flagship fullframe DSLR which is the 24.6 MP Alpha-900. The new SAL 16-35mm ZA is also here, expanding the range of lenses with the classy, minimalist look of the Carl Zeiss ZA lenses. But it's the new full-frame A900 that is catching everyone's imagination.
There's one more thing i wanted to let you guys know is that the Sigma has just announced their new lens which is the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG. This lens is quite similar to the older version but this newer version now comes with HSM and newer design. With the HSM, this lens sure is a gem even though for some pro photographers out there. Too bad for me that i just bought the older version last few weeks.
That's all from me, and those brand that i didn't mentioned above, please forgive me as i'm not really interested in those brands. Anyway, please stay tune to my blog for any news about the photography word and keep checking back for new photos from me.
